Modernization bid? KCR wants to change police in Telangana
Hyderabad: In a bid to change the image and mindset of the police Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao has asked the top brass to design a course to change the work culture of the police.
A top official at police headquarters said the CM insisted not only on a change in uniform and logo but also in the behaviour of policemen.
The police has also decided to invite public opinion on logo change. “We have 50 logos designed by Cyberabad police commissioner C.V. Anand and other officers. We will post them on social media and invite public comments. Based on public reaction we will take a decision,” said the senior IPS official.
The Chief Minister has set August 15 as the deadline for buying new vehicles for Hyderabad and Cyberabad police commissionerates.
The new vehicles will be equipped with modern gadgets like laptops, GPS and cameras.
An ultra modern control room will also be set up at Banjara Hills for both Hyderabad and Cyberabad police commissionerates. “There will be an integrated police control room for both commissionarates. The control rooms will be connected to cameras. Shops and malls have been asked to set up CCTV cameras,” said an official.
