CBI to carry out lie test in Badaun rape case
Sources said it was not convinced about the version given by the victims’ families
New Delhi: In a major development in the Badaun rape-murder of two teenaged girls, the CBI has decided to conduct lie-detector tests on the victims’ fathers. Sources said it was not convinced about the version given by the victims’ families.
The sources said this should not been seen as doubting the claims by the victims? families, but to ensure a flawless case. “The statements given by family members have some inconsistencies, which need to be clarified,” a source said.
The agency has already secured the consent of all four for the tests. While such tests are not admissible as evidence in the trial, they help the agency pick leads for investigation in the May 27 rape-murder that triggered huge nationwide outrage.
