1 terrorist managed to escape

SRINAGAR: Kashmir’s Sopore town erupted on Monday after the killing of a local youth and injuries to four others in security forces’ firing during a street protest.
The incidents followed the security forces’ shooting dead a Lashkar-e-Tayyaba militant, reportedly Pakistani national Mahmood Bhai, in a 20-hour long gun battle in town’s Krankashivan locality. However, his local accomplice, Javed Ahmed Mattoo, managed to escape. The authorities had earlier brought his mother to the site of the encounter to plead before him through her to surrender.
The street clashes between irate crowds and security forces have spread to new areas. CRPF reinforcements have been rushed to the area to control the situation.
