Police detains boy who stabbed DRDO official
Hyderabad: Hussaini Alam police on Monday detained the accused juvenile, who stabbed a senior DRDO official near Charminar on Sunday. However, the police is yet to make an official arrest. Investigation officials found that the boy used to carry a knife in his pocket always, and he used it against the DRDO scientist in order to escape from him.
Senior police officials from South Zone said that the boy would be produced before Juvenile Justice Board soon. Police said that there were no CCTV footages available since security cameras in the area are not pointed towards the spot. The police officials were trying to collect footage of the incident soon after the attack occurred.
Meanwhile, the DRDO official R.K. Satpathy, who is now undergoing treatment at DRDO Apollo Hospital in Kanchanbagh, told police that he did not see the knife in the initial moment and only realised that he was injured when he started bleeding. On Sunday, he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, but a day later he was shifted to room.
Mr Satpathy’s relatives including his wife came to Hyderabad from Odisha after coming to know of the incident. “We came to know about the incident through television. Later, we were informed by DRDO officials, who were with him at the time of incident,” said a relative staying at the hospital with him. Mr Satpathy was about to return to Odisha on Sunday night after a brief shopping at Charminar.
