Hyderabad: Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu will probably have the biggest set of releases in 2014, a total of seven films, including a massive yet-to-be-formally-announced multi-starrer.
But besides the planned films, the list of confirmed releases is long too and Samantha, has now edged out Shriya Saran, who had the highest number of film releases in Telugu in a single year eight. But out of those, just one managed to keep its head above the water at the box office.
However, sources claim this could be Samantha’s best year. The actress has chosen the right projects, big directors and the career plan seems pretty solid. The actress has also acted in high-budget films and at the same time, she has kept critics happy with strong female-oriented films like Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu. Despite the film’s rather drab performance at the box office, the star received critical acclaim and a host of awards for her work.
Not just that Samantha also boasts of a resume filled with projects with all the top actors, across the South’s four industries. There’s Mahesh Babu, Pawan Kalyan, Junior NTR and Tamil stars Suriya, Vijay and Vikram. And incredibly, starting with Autonagar Surya this week, the actress will have one release every month for the rest of the year.
“She works very hard and is one of the most co-operative lead actors out there currently who has no hassles such as dates and salary etc. It’s an absolute joy to work with her,” said a source from the industry.
More importantly, Samantha remains “always available” for promotions in Tollywood.
“She is an actress most of the directors like to work with. Moreover, she will always be around for promotions at a time when most of the other actresses go missing or cite ‘date issues’. Yes it’s been a great year for Samantha and from the looks of it, the good run should continue,” said producer Dil Raju.
