Honda Cars India Limited to double its car sales
Hyderabad: After the success of Amaze, Japanese automotive major Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL) on Monday said that it expects to more than double its volume to 3,00,000 units in FY2016-17 with two new launches this year. In FY14, the auto major had posted an annual sales of 1,34,339 units.
“With the launch of mid-size multi purpose vehicle Mobilio in July, and premium hatchback model Jazz, we intent to double our sales volume by 2016-17 and also increase our manufaccturing capabilities by opening up of new plants across the country,” said Jnaneswar Sen, senior vice president, marke-ting and sales, HCIL.
Competing with other MPVs like Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Mahindra Xylo, Toyota Innova and Nissan Evalia, Honda’s Mobilio will be offered in both petrol and diesel variant and will have almost 90 per cent localisation similar to Brio, Amaze and City, he said. The Japanese auto major had invested Rs 6,130 crores in ramping up its manufacturing capability at its two units in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
