Repatriation of Sub Inspector rank cops withheld
Hyderabad: Police departments in Telangana and Andhra have withheld the repatriation of police officials of SI and above rank to their parent districts a month after election results. Police officials are visiting police headquarters and Secretariat seeking re-transfer as elections are over.
During elections, following orders of Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal, all cops of sub-inspector (SI) and above rank who were working in the same post for more than three years were shifted. In all other departments like revenue and panchayati raj, the cops were repatriated to their parent units. However, police departments are refusing to oblige citing security arrangements for upcoming Ramzan and Ganesh festivals.
Unhappy over this, a few officials approached AP Administrative Tribunal too. An inspector of police rank official in Hyderabad said, “Most of them in Hyderabad are shifted to Cyberabad police commissionerate and some to Nizamabad, Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar. Likewise, it happened in districts too. In undivided Andhra, around 17 additional SPs, 49 deputy superintendents of police, 500 inspectors of police, 700 sub-inspectors of police were shifted.” Officers were not given posting in their native districts.
For instance, all those working over three years in Vijayawada were shifted to West Godavari district and vice versa.
“It’s more than three months since the transfers were effected in February and March. Revenue and MPDOs are also transferred, but they were brought back after elections. We went to officials at all levels in the police and home departments and also met the Chief Minister of Telangana. But nothing has moved forward,” said the police official.
A few official who went to APAT and got order now went and filed contempt of court. “The staff is unhappy over this. As the families are staying in one place and we are working in another district,” said an official.
In Hyderabad, of 240 Circle Inspectors, 136 CIs had completed three year service in the same posting were shifted.
