Delay in rains make Telangana, Andhra Pradesh anxious
Hyderabad: The rains are expected to be delayed by some more time and considerable rainfall can be expected only after July 4, Met officials informed.
Of the two branches of the monsoon currents, the Arabian Sea current is stronger than that of the Bay of Bengal. Apart from this, there is no system that can bring rainfall to AP and Telangana. The existing system in the Bay of Bengal is bringing heavy rainfall to the North-Eastern areas.
“The current weather will continue till June 28 accompanied with occasional rainfall. Since the moisture depth is less for the system to intensify, there is a delay in rainfall. Rains are expected to be delayed by some more time even after the complete onset of the monsoon. We are not expecting good, heavy rains till July 4. Further update can be made only after this,” said K. Seetharam, director of Meteorological Centre, Hyderabad.
On Sunday, isolated rainfall occurred over Coastal AP and Rayalaseema though dry weather prevailed over Telangana. The highest maximum temperature of 41ºC was recorded at Rentachintala, Masulipatnam, Tuni and Bapatla.
