Electricity crisis: Power trips in AP and Telangana staff tussle

Both sides are having problems communicating and in reaching a common scheduling

Hyderabad: The tussle between electricity employees of the two states has escalated to such an extent that the scheduling and dispatch activities are being affected.

Insiders say that this is the reason behind the frequent power cuts that the region has been facing over the last few weeks, despite only a 10 per cent power deficit.

Both sides are having problems communicating and in reaching a common scheduling decision. Moreover, the problem is likely to increase as the power shortage is expected to escalate with generation from two major thermal power stations dwindling due to coal shortage.

The cold war between the employees, which had begun months back, is also said to be the reason why the corridor was not booked in advance by the united AP government as no clear deficit projection was arrived at.
