Rs 17 Lakh seized from thieves
Hyderabad: The West Zone police nabbed two burglars and recovered gold ornaments, weighing about 600 gm, and other stolen goods worth Rs17 lakh from their possession. The cops also arrested two receivers of stolen goods and booked them for buying stolen gold. A car used for the offence was also confiscated.
The accused 26-year-old Mohammed Khaleel, and Syed Majeed alias Jahangir used to conduct a survey of residential areas in the city and target houses during nights. Both of them are autorickshaw drivers from Saheennagar in Saroornagar. The receivers have been identified as Shaik Mohammed and Mohammed Mazhar Khan.
Asifnagar police registered a case and has arrested the accused. V. Satyanarayana, deputy commissioner of police, West Zone, said the accused pretended to be doctors to commit the offences and targeted posh colonies.
“They engaged a car for committing the offences and affixed a ‘doctor’ sticker (emergency duty) on the windscreen to evade police checks at
night.”
According to the police, Khaleel, a compulsive offender has been involved in as many as 100 cases against his name and was earlier arrested by both Hyderabad and Cyberabad police. Many cases are still been pending against him in courts.
