Top cop role for Amitabh Bachchan?
Mumbai: The book launch of Quantum Siege (QS) by IPS officer-turned-author Brijesh Singh, DIG Mumbai, saw an impressive turnout with the who’s who from the police force in attendance. However, mega star Amitabh Bachchan, who launched the book, clearly stole the limelight.
There is speculation about whether the book, QS, will be made into a movie, and if so, whether Amitabh will feature in a key role. Responding to a query about this, Amitji replied with a smile, “As per the author Brijesh Singh, the only role which would suit me would be that of the commissioner of police, Mumbai. However, since the commissioner Rakesh Maria is sitting right next to me here, how on earth can I play the role?”
When asked if he would write a book on himself, pat came the reply, “I am able to handle one profession well. Let me not try any other field. Also, I am not keen on penning a book on my own life.”
When asked to explain his Babuji’s (Harvansh Rai Bachchan) verses from one of his poems, which reads as ‘Yahan sab kuch bikta hai... Jeena hai toh pathar ki tarah use tarash ke jiyo’, Big B said, “These lines were written by Babuji even before I was born and have been written in general for all of us. These lines personify every man; every person can identify with these lines. These lines relate to the society, as well as some important moments from the life of every common man.”
Keeping pace with the current football fervor, Amitabh confessed, “I admire the Brazil football team and their play.”
Time will tell whether a film is made on the book ‘QS’ and whether Amitji will accept the police commissioner’s role.
