Monsoon reaches Telangana, Andhra Pradesh

The Southwest monsoon finally reached after 10 day delay

Hyderabad: After a 10-day delay, the Southwest monsoon finally covered all of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on Friday. In the last few years, the monsoon reached the state by June 10, but this time it took till June 20.

Rains lashed a few places in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and isolated places in Rayalaseema. Nizamabad recorded the highest rainfall of 39 mm, followed by Kalingapatnam with 18 mm. Met officials said the monsoon further advanced into remaining parts of Telangana.

“The low pressure area currently lies over Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar. During the week, the Southwest monsoon covered the remaining parts of central Arabian Sea, some parts of north Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Bay of Bengal, entire Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar and remaining parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim,” the IMD website informed.

As a result, isolated heavy rain may occur in the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, and Visakhapatnam. However, heat wave conditions prevailed in some parts of Krishna and Guntur.
