Central Administrative Tribunal reserves order on SP’s plea

After hearing the case, the CAT reserved its decision to next week

Hyderabad: Vijayawada Railway police superintendent Shyam Prasad Rao on Friday moved the Hyderabad bench of the Central Administrative Tribunal challenging a fax message issued by the Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police directing him to relieve office and hand over charge to the additional Director General of Police (Railways).

The petitioner brought to the notice of the Central Administrative Tribunal that he was directed to immediately report to the DGP’s office. He contended that the transfer through a fax message was illegal and as per the direction of the Apex Court the issue has to be placed before the Police Establishment Board. He urged the tribunal to stay his transfer.

Ms G Manjula, counsel for the government contended that he was not transferred from the post but was asked to give up his current post in view of the serious allegations against him.

After hearing the case, the CAT reserved its decision to next week.
