TRS leaders target AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu
Hyderabad: While Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is gearing up for his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and discuss pressing issues concerning the state, the TRS leaders are furious with AP Chief Minister Mr Chandrababu Naidu.
Irrigation minister T. Harish Rao lashed out at Mr Naidu’s decision to cancel the Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) and asserted that the latter’s attempts to sabotage Telangana growth would be repealed with equal ferocity.
“It’s time that Telangana TD leaders decide whether they are for Telangana people or Mr Chandrababu Naidu. Mr Naidu is systematically trying to sabotage Telangana’s interests but he will not succeed. We will hit back,” Mr Rao warned.
Taking exception to cancellation of the PPAs, he said Mr Naidu should not forget that they would have to stay put in Hyderabad till a new capital was built in Seemandhra.
“If they try to hurt our interests, they will also suffer. Don’t Mr Naidu’s secretariat, office, home and other ministers’ houses require power? Hyderabad is joint capital for 10 years. We will not spare him if he indulges in such a conspiracy,” he added.
Mr Harish Rao stated that the government was making alternate arrangements to ensure uninterrupted power supply to Hyderabad and Telangana.
The Chief Minister too is furious over Mr Naidu’s decision to cancel the PPAs, which will hurt the state in the power sector.
Meanwhile, TRS MPs Kadiam Srihari, Kavitha and others met Mr Rao. The Chief Minister’s office has sought an appointment with the Prime Minister on June 26.
Special status for Telangana, withdrawal of the Polavaram Ordinance merging seven mandals of Telangana into Andhra Pradesh, pending irrigation and other projects, Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), nomination of party MPs to various Standing Committees of the Central Government and other issues will be taken up with the Prime Minister.
The Telangana MPs requested Mr Rao to provide accommodation to MPs in Hyderabad too since they had to frequent the capital. The Chief Minister promised to consider their plea.
“The Chief Minister has decided to convene a meeting of the party MPs and other MPs soon to take up state issues with the Centre. We have tentatively sought appointment with Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi on June 26,” Mr Kadiam Srihari told this newspaper.
He said the state government would take up all the burning issues including the request for giving special status for Telangana with the PM.
“We will press for special status for Telangana. The new state requires support from the Centre in all spheres,” he added.
