Telangana Governor okays Nayani, Ramulu as MLCs
Hyderabad: Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan has cleared the appointments of two MLCs, home minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy and TRS politburo member Ramulu Naik.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has sent the file pertaining to the appointments to the Governor recently.
After the Governor’s approval, the file pertaining to two appointments has now been sent to Chief Electoral Officer for notification. Mr Narasimha Reddy, who was included in the Cabinet, is not a member of Legislative Assembly or Legislative Council.
As per rule, a minister should become an MLA or MLC within six months of induction into the Cabinet if he or she is not elected or nominated. Mr Ramulu Naik, who tried for Boath ST ticket, failed to get it and he was promised MLC ticket by Mr Rao.
“The appointments of Mr Nayani Narasimha Reddy and Mr Ramulu Naik as MLCs have been cleared,” a senior official told this newspaper.
Karne Prabhakar, politburo member of the TRS, is also likely to be nominated as MLC soon in the the Governor’s quota.
After the bifurcation of AP, the Telangana state will have 40 MLCs including 14 elected through local bodies, 14 from MLAs quota, six under Governor’s quota, and three each in graduates and teachers constituencies.
