Hyderabad: Nineteen-year-old Tarun was an ambitious student who planned to start a graphic design company after graduation. He even had a name ready for the start-up. However, the swirling waters of the Beas swept him and his dreams away.

Ten days after the tragedy, Tarun’s body was recovered and brought to his house in Chandanagar and then taken to Guntur for the funeral on Thursday. Tarun used to design posters and trailers for promotional programmes in his college.

“He had excellent skills in designing posters. He was also responsible for the promotion of our college’s upcoming fest,” said N. Biswas, a close friend and classmate of Tarun’s.

“We both had planned and started working on it. But then this tragedy struck. I miss him terribly,” said Mr Biswas, who is also a survivor of the Beas tragedy. Both Tarun and Mr Biswas were planning to launch their graphic design company. “We had named it Zest, and we thought we would launch it when we finished our graduation,” added Biswas.

Tarun was standing on a big rock in the middle of the river when the gates of the Larji dam were opened. Mr Biswas escaped as he had moved to the riverbank.

Meanwhile, three more bodies of engineering students were fished out of the Beas on Thursday taking total number of bodies recovered to 12. The three have been identified as M. Siva Prakash Varma, Ashish Mantha and Macharla Akhil.
