KTR in talks for Sunburn in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: The Telangana government is in talks with the organisers of Sunburn, India’s premier electronic music brand, to host their electronic music festival in Hyderabad.
“I am talking to Percept, the organisers of Sunburn, to host their premier show in Hyderabad,” said information technology minister K.T. Rama Rao said on Thursday.
Sunburn is Asia’s largest three-day electronic music festival hosted in Goa. It brings some of the world’s best DJs to India like Avicii, Dash Berlin, Armin Van Buuren, Swedish House Mafia and many more across all major cities in the country.
According to event management experts, the invitation to Sunburn appears to be an attempt to revive Hyderabad as the meeting and convention destination, an advantage that the city had lost to other cities due to political uncertainty in the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh.
“The city has one of the best convention centres in the country, coupled with a large number of good hotels and great city infrastructure that seamlessly connects the convention centre to the airport,” said Raghavendra Reddy Palwai, director Sipper Global Informatics, said.
“Hyderabad had stood fourth after Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, by attracting around 10 per cent of conventions and meetings in the country,” a study conducted by IIM-Bengaluru for the Union tourism ministry revealed.
A consumer survey showed that Hyderabad fared well compared others in terms of total cost, conference facilities, and accommodation, three important factors for hosting a convention.
