Salman Khan's 'Kick' to have the biggest release in India

Sajid Nadiadwala is targeting a count of 5,000 screens for Kick

Mumbai: Plans are underway to make Salman Khan’s EID release, Kick, the biggest ever for an Indian film. With this in mind, Sajid Nadiadwala and UTV Motion Pictures, are targeting a count of 5,000 screens for their film.

The record for the biggest ever Indian release so far, is held by Yash Raj Films for Dhoom 3, where the Aamir Khan starrer was seen at approximately 4,700 screens in the country (including its Tamil and Telugu versions).

A source from Sajid’s production house told us, “The response for the Kick promos has been beyond Sajid’s expectations. He was running against time and still managed to stick to his release date. Now, he is focusing all his energy on the distribution strategy. The attempt is to reach out to maximum people by having the widest release.”

A leading distributor pointed out, “New screens are coming up in the country every month and for a Salman Khan release, they should be able to get at least more than Dhoom 3.”

We messaged Sajid about Kick’s release strategy but he chose not to comment. A source from UTV, however, did say, “There is no clarity on the number of screens yet, but it will definitely be a wide release.”

Kick is slated to release on July 25.
