Earlier, the IPL COO had ‘informally’ confirmed the same to the police

Mumbai: IPL chief operating officer Sundar Raman on Thursday confirmed having been approached by Preity Zinta with a verbal complaint against Ness Wadia’s behaviour in his statement to the Marine Drive police. Earlier, Mr. Raman had “informally” confirmed the same to the police but was yet to give a formal statement at the time.

According to DCP (zone 1) Ravindra Shisve, Mr. Raman’s statement was recorded for about 90 minutes at the BCCI office where his account was “affirmative” of Preity’s claims, the IPS officer said. “Statements of around 6 more people have also been recorded pertaining to the incident. We are now awaiting Preity’s arrival from Los Angeles to record her supplementary statement so as to fill in certain missing details in her statement. A spot panchanama will also be conducted with her assistance at the Garware Pavillion where the incident is reported to have taken place on May 30,” Mr. Shisve added.

The statement of Ankit Baldi – a local BCCI official who was mistaken for Ness Wadia by news channels in a blurry footage aired after the story broke where he is seen talking to Preity with “animated” gestures – was also recorded. “Mr. Baldi and Zinta were discussing seating arrangements and ticket allotments,” said an official from Marine Drive police station.

On May 30, Preity and Ness clashed on three different instances – once in front of the Kings X1 Punjab team and staff, the second time when Ness followed to her seat and the third argument on the stadium when the team was celebrating its victory.

It is apparently during the last incident when Mr. Raman asked Preity to “calm down” after she blew her top and angrily complained to him. Cops are also awaiting camera footage from Sony, which has the broadcasting rights, after the video format is converted to non-High Definition format.
