If I was raping her wouldn’t her screams alert the society: Actor Inder Kumar

Mumbai: Actor Inder Kumar, who was arrested last month for allegedly raping a 22-year-old starlet, was granted bail by the sessions court. The actor, who has acted in several films with Salman Khan, was charged under sections 376 (rape), 324 (causing grievous) and 506 (criminal intimidation). He was accused of raping her thrice and assuring her a Bollywood career.

In a recent interview with Absolute India, the actor gave his side of the story, saying, “The allegations levelled against me are completely baseless that’s why I am out on bail. I have high regards for women. Even the mention of the word rape is painful for me."

"Just imagine the trauma I am going through when every person in the world is looking at me as a rapist. If she was in my custody for two days how come nobody in the concerned society noticed? If I was raping her or assaulting her wouldn’t her screams have alerted the society? Kya maine poori society ko kharid liya hai? Why she does not have a single witness to prove her accussations?”

When asked about what the victim was doing at his residence he said, “Her nonstop calls and intimate messages had created a havoc in my marital life. My wife was suspecting an affair between us when in reality I wasn’t involved with her in any way. I had called her to clear the misunderstanding and clarify there was nothing between us . While she was with me I didn’t even touch her, forget raping her. She was roaming freely everywhere. Everyone saw her moving in and out of the house with beer and liquor bottles in her hand. The injuries could be self inflicted also.”

The actor also denied giving a statement to the police saying that it was consensual. The victim was an acquaintance of Inder, who was helping her with her career. “But when I realised she had other ideas in mind I clearly told her to stay away from me. Very soon the truth will come out.”
