Tarun Tejpal rape case: Supreme Court to hear bail plea on June 22

The regular bail plea was earlier supposed to be heard on July 7

New Delhi: Tehelka founder Tarun Tejpal's bail plea in the sexual assault case filed by his younger colleague would be heard by the Supreme Court on June 22. The regular bail plea was earlier supposed to be heard on July 7.

His interim bail had been extended till June 27 by the Supreme Court after five months in jail to enable him to perform the last rites of his mother who died on May 18. But he could not perform the last rites due to delay in his release from the Sada Jail in Goa.

Tejpal has now sought regular bail from the court. Tejpal is booked for allegedly raping his woman colleague during an event in the state and has been lodged in jail since November 30 last year, after his anticipatory bail was rejected by a local court.
