AP CM Chandrababu Naidu to leave for Delhi on June 25, meet PM
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will leave for New Delhi on June 25 or 26, depending on when he gets his appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The CM’s office is awaiting confirmation from the Prime Minister’s office. This will be Mr Naidu’s first visit to Delhi after taking over as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
Mr Naidu is anxious to confirm the special category status for AP and may ask the Prime Minister to hold the National Development Council (NDC) meeting earlier to approve the special category status.
He is also expected to explain the need for the Polavaram project, which Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has objected to. Mr Naidu will emphasise that both states will benefit from the project, which the previous government had agreed to make a national project.
Mr Naidu is also expected to discuss the waiver of farm loans and request Central assistance to fund them and direct the Reserve Bank of India to accept the state government’s request to pay the money in instalments.
