Raashi Khanna: Acting happened accidentally

Madras Café girl is all set to make her Telugu debut with Oohalu Gusa Gusa Laade

Hyderabad: Raashi Khanna is excited about her Tollywood debut that is going to hit the screens this week. After seeing her performance in Madras Café, producer Sai Korrapati and director Avasarala approached Raashi for Oohalu Gusa Gusa Laade.

“I liked the script and my character. Also, the producer is very popular because of his earlier film Eega. So I immediately agreed to do the film,” says Raashi.

Her only concern was the language. “Initially I was a little afraid about the language because the script is very strong and my character appears in almost every frame of the film. My character has lots of dialogues,” she says. But before the actual shoot started, the team conducted a few workshops.

“These workshops helped me to know the language and we rehearsed our scenes. I took it as a challenge and with the help of others in the team I started the shooting with confidence. Then I realised that it wasn’t a big deal to do a film in a new language, whether it was Telugu or any other language,” says Raashi.

Director Avasarala Srinivasa Rao and lead actor Naga Shourya are debuting along with Raashi with the film. “My first priority was the script and then the banner. I didn’t think about anything else,” adds Raashi.

Her character’s name is Sri Sai Sirisha Prabhavathi. “It’s a complicated name and a complicated character too. The girl is stubborn, selfish and arrogant, but she is lovable. She comes from a broken family and runs away from relationships,” says the actor.

Asked why she signed a Telugu film after her Hindi debut, she says, “I did not choose acting as a career. I did modelling in my college days and joined as a content writer in a company. Accidentally, someone spotted me and auditioned me for an ad and immediately after that I was picked for the Hindi film,” she says. “It all happened quickly and I am really grateful that I got to work with great people.”

Before the release of her first Telugu film, Raashi has already completed the shooting of her second Telugu film, Joru.

“Sundeep Kishan is the lead actor and the film is almost complete,” she says.
