Website to locate missing kids barely used
Hyderabad: Child rights experts say that the website listing missing persons and those who have been found, which was started by the government and the police, has been under-utilised. People do not refer to the website though it could be helpful in finding the whereabouts of their missing child.
“There are over 10 lakh profiles of missing children with their photographs on the website. This makes it easy to identify a missing child,” said a parent.
However, the parent said, “The website has not been updated properly. Sometimes they do not take off the names of the kids who have been found. They do have a lot of data, but there needs to be an evaluation from time to time.”
Reporting a missing child on the website is easy, said a police official. “People have to just go on the website, fill in details, upload a picture and post it.”
