Prime Minister is strict on rules regarding the personal staff of ministers

New Delhi: After the Union ministers realised that the Prime Minister is strict on rules regarding the personal staff of ministers who are drawn from government services, the nameplates of such officials were last week removed from Central ministries.
“There is a set of officials that has spent most of their career serving ministers or political leaders, formally or informally, but are now facing a change in fortune. They wielded more power than even IAS officers,” sources said.
The move to clamp down on the “caucus” of personal staff appears to have come against the backdrop of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi showing a greater comfort level in working with the higher echelons of bureaucracy
