SEZ, FTA under Union Commemce Ministry scanner

Chennai: The status of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and Special Economic Zones (SEZ) has come under critical review of the Union commerce and industry ministry and a policy decision on their viability, especially economic benefits, will be made soon.

Union commerce and industry minister Nirmala Sitharaman who had ordered the officials to undertake a thorough review said that a consultation with the stakeholders has been planned to address concerns of the industry with regard to the Companies Act. “I have also instructed officials thoroughly review SEZs. We are going to rework SEZs,” she said.
