K Chandrasekhar Rao’s motorcade gets first ‘TS’ code

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was the first to get “TS vehicle registration code” for his convoy on Saturday. The CM’s convoy comprises a Toyota Prado and four Toyota Fortuners. The existing registration number of all his vehicles in the convoy is AP 09K 6666. Only ‘AP’ has now been replaced by ‘TS’ while the number remains the same.

The state government has recently directed the transport department to register new vehicles in Telangana only on TS code from June 12. However, the new registrations are yet to begin with the delay in finalisation of district codes.

The government has also asked the vehicle owners to replace ‘AP’ with ‘TS’ within four months and there will be no change in numbers. However, there is no clarity on district codes so far. Though the Centre had earlier issued a notification giving ‘TG’ code to Telangana, it revised the code later on request of the Chief Minister who recommended ‘TS’ as it indicates Telangana State, he had said.
