Hyderabad: AP’s Deputy Chief Minister and revenue minister K.E. Krishna Murthy said that his department has a key role in construction of a new capital.
The government is considering many policies for land acquisition. Speaking to the media on Saturday he said the government is thinking of making an agreement with private land owners on a 60:40 ratio. He said that the new capital is likely to come up between Vijayawada and Guntur.
Explaining the procedure which will be followed, the Deputy Chief Minister said the government will take 60 per cent of the land from owners and develop it with facilities like water, power, roads and other infrastructure and hand over 40 per cent of the land to the owners.
He said the cost of land will be Rs 1 lakh before the government acquires it and after development it will cost over Rs 10 lakh. This will help farmers and private land owners. He said government will also acquire land wherever available.
The Deputy CM said that the previous Congress government, especially the YSR government, sanctioned the land to some private persons in the name of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and other industries without a proper policy. Most of the lands were misused and in some SEZs no industry has come up and there was no employment given to youth as promised.
He said the government will constitute a sub committee to look into all these lands and recover those that are not being used as per the government rules and agreements.
The government will recover all the illegally occupied lands. He said stamps and registration department is one of the revenue earning departments for the government, and there are many transactions, but the government was not getting money.
He proposed to streamline the system and added that many people were registering lands by lowering the valuations, and no one was showing the actual cost. The government will henceforth instruct all the collectors to see that the registrations are done properly.
