Twitter gives a red card to host Gaurav Kapur and John Abraham
Hyderabad: There were three people under attack on social media, as Brazil kicked off the Fifa World Cup 2014, Cafe Rio host Gaurav Kapur, a guy named Marcello (who twitter users assumed was the Brazil defender who scored an own goal) and apna poor John Abraham.
The duo at Sony’s Cafe Rio, the prematch analysis on Sony Six have been slammed for their “confused rambling” and lack of any particular insight into the game.
Everyone knew John Abraham was a football enthusiast but to tag him as a football expert and to make him sit next to the likes of Peter Crouch and Mikaël Silvestre seemed to be stretching Bollywood a bit too far, felt web users. Hundreds of tweets then followed, ridiculing Gaurav Kapur and John Abraham.
User Akshath Dorai said, “If I had a six-pack, I could do a better job than #JohnAbraham on #CafeRio.”
Another trending tweet was, “John Abraham is on the WC panel cause he did the movie Goal? Waiting for SRK to be on a panel for next NASA launch cause he did Swades.”
There were international references too, as one user wrote “Gaurav Kapur and John Abraham are discussing football. They will then join the UN and solve the Syrian crisis by next Thursday.”
