Spain suffer their worst defeat in 61 years in an international match
Salvador: Arjen Robben and captain Robin Van Persie scored two goals each as Netherlands decimated the defending champions Spain 5-1 in a one sided encounter. Spainish defense looked out of answer to the Dutch attack who handed champions their heaviest defeat in 61 years . Netherlands starts the match on positive note as Sneijder shot was saved by Iker Casillas in the 8th minute of the match Spain immediately responds with Andreas Inesta who hits the ball narrowly over cross bar inthe 10th minute. Diego Costa gets the chance to score in the 13th minute but Vlaar denies him with a challenge. Spain looks to be dominent of the two teams as they have more posession compared to the dutch.

  • Spain receives penalty in the 26th minute as Diego Costa was brought down in the box by De Vrij. Alonso converts the penalty to give spain lead

Its half time Netherlands make a strong comeback with captain Robin Van Persie leading from the front with a superb headed goal to cancel out Xabi Alonso's penalty goal. the game is evenly poised and still second half to play
