Sonia Gandhi didn’t write to Lok Sabha Speaker, says Congress
New Delhi: The Congress on Friday made it clear that the party chief Sonia Gandhi has not written a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on the Leader of Opposition and requested the media not to raise such issues without verification.
AICC general secretary Shakeel Ahmed told reporters: “Acco-rding to my information, she has not written any letter to the Speaker for granting the status of the Leader of Opposition.”
Meanwhile according to agency reports Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said that she will take a decision on the issue after studying rules, regulations and precedents. She also said “There is no letter at all from Sonia Gandhi to me pertaining to this subject.”
A section of the Congress MPs suggest that the party high command should make its stand clear over the issue without waiting for the Speaker’s decision.
