Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao seeks time to fulfil promises
Hyderabad: Ever since finance minister Eetela Rajendar announced last week that only crop loans would be waived, farmers across Telangana have been agitating and demanding waiver of all types of farm loans as promised during elections.
“The TRS is committed to crop loan waiver of up to Rs 1 lakh. In fact, we are 100 per cent committed to fulfil all the promises made in our party’s manifesto,” Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao remarked.

“You all should understand that the actual administration of the Telangana government is yet to begin and the state was formed just 10 days ago. The state has only 70 IAS, IPS, IFS officers including CS, DGP, CMO etc. How can we run the administration with such limited number of officers? This is only the provisional allotment made by the Centre. Except the Centre, no one has the power to allot officers to states. We could not begin implementation of our poll promises due to this. I request you to give us some time,” Mr Rao said.
He claimed that opposition parties are trying to confuse the public and farmers by making contradictory statements on the crop loan waiver scheme.
“We are very clear on this. We are in the process of finalising the modalities for the scheme in consultation with the bankers. Don’t try to confuse public and farmers by making contradictory statements day in and day out,” he said.
