Beas tragedy survivors to file RTI against Himachal Pradesh
Hyderabad: The student survivors of the Beas tragedy of the VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute are planning to approach the PM seeking an independent probe into the mishap. The students will send a letter to the PMO requesting to speed up the rescue operation.

Student representatives also said that they would file an RTI application to expose the negligence of HP government in causing the Beas tragedy. Students wanted to know the standard procedures of dam operation and what precautions the authorities should take before releasing water. They will also request the government to give a posthumous award to M. Kiran Kumar, who saved three lives by pushing them towards the bank.

Meanwhile, the students were defensive about the college management and were reluctant to talk about its role in the tragedy. “They had taken all precautions,” said Kavya, adding that they have no demands to place before the management.
