New Delhi/ Lucknow: Four more cases of sexual violance against women were reported in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday with a 19-year-old girl found hanging from a tree in a village in Moradabad district. However, cops said that prima facie it appeared to be a case of suicide.
Office of the DGP in Lucknow, said in a report that the body has been sent for postmortem and further details would be known only after that.
Cases of sexual assault were reported also from Meerut, Sitapur, Varanasi and Jalaun in UP. Three persons were arrested for allegedly throwing acid on a teenage girl in Rampur area of Jalaun, police said.
A young Dalit woman was abducted and raped by a youth in Meerut following which he was arrested while a 21-year-old girl was raped by her paramour in Sitapur, police said.
In another incident, a mentally challenged woman was allegedly abducted and gangraped by two persons in Manduadih area in Varanasi late on Wednesday night, Manduadih police station in-charge Moin Ahmed said.
Meanwhile, a senior police officer said a six-year-old girl was allegedly molested by a 15-year-old boy who was her neighbour in Kadaura area of Jalaun on June 10.
In a separate incident, a 24-year-old girl accused a police sub-inspector in Hamirpur in UP of sexually assaulting her inside a police station when she had gone there to secure her husband’s release on the night of June 9.
Police, however, claimed that the allegation levelled by the woman was false and rape has not been confirmed in the medical test done on her.
The woman has alleged that SI Rahul Pandey, who is posted at Sumerpur police station, raped her on June 9 night and three other policemen had assisted him in the alleged act.
In Greater Noida, two women were raped by their neighbours, police said.
Meanwhile, the autopsy report of the 45-year-old woman, whose body was found hanging from a tree on Wednesday, has “not confirmed rape”, even as five policemen have been suspended in connection with the case.
