Roads and buildings department to explore if another ORR feasible in Telangana
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday directed officials of the roads and buildings department to expedite works on the elevated express highway link from Hyderabad to the state highway Rajiv Rahadari (Hyderabad- Ramagundam) to reduce road accidents and loss of life.
The CM asked officials to take up the work on a war footing to create the link on par with national highways.
The R&B department will also be exploring the feasibility of laying another ring of ORR (Outer Ring Road) within 60 to 100 km radius of the city to promote satellite townships and mass transportation system for Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar districts.
Officials were also asked to prepare a master plan on express highway flyovers from Hyderabad to all state and national highways on the line with the PVNR Expressway.
During the high-level review meeting, the CM asked officials to make provisions for improving service roads, removing dangerous bends and creating additional bypasses and flyovers.
The R&B department has been asked to prepare a roadmap to convert 20,000 km of Panchayati Raj roads into four lanes to district headquarters and two lanes to mandal headquarters.
The CM also asked for defunct state guesthouses to be restored for official use.
