K Chandrasekhar Rao was ‘attender’ in fancy dress
Hyderabad: Believe it or not, Telangana Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, always loved to don the role of an “attender” as part of the “self-government day” observed in his school during his childhood, while his friends used to be either be headmaster, teacher or district education officer.
Mr Rao’s childhood friends recently met him and showed him the decade-long pictures taken in the school in which Mr Rao as “attender” sat on the floor, while his friends sat on the chair. Normally, the government schools observe “self- government day” once every year. This is to give an opportunity for students to don the role of their choice in schools. While many students vie for role of a teacher or principal, Mr Rao in contrast used to opt for attender’s role.
His childhood friends are now delighted to see their “attender KCR” occupying the highest post in the state as the first CM of Telangana. His friends disclosed that Mr Rao felt very happy looking at those photos and they also believe that he became the Chief Minister now, because he liked to be the attender then.
Mr Rao said to his childhood friends, “During my school days, I used to love the role of an attender. I don’t know why. I used to laugh at Late Sriram Venkanna, who was my senior then and became Dubbaka sarpanch later, for his inability to give a good speech. One day, he locked me up in a room and hit me for my comments which I will never forget.”
His friends said that even after becoming the Chief Minister of the state K. Chandrasekhar Rao remembered each of his school friends by name and inquired particularly about each of them and their family.
