Mumbai: With the World Cup just starting, here are a few tips for the WAGS — wives and girlfriends — to stay onside this summer.
Rule #1 Don’t ask what onside is. Or even offside for that matter unless of course you want to get on the wrong side.
Rule# 2 TV and the remote shall totally be under our control at all times till the World Cup is over — Irrespective of whether the game is live or not, irrespective of whether it is only highlights. Time to forget about mopy serials, drama filled reality shows and movie award nights.
Rule #3 Ensure friends and family are not getting married, delivering a baby or even dying for that matter during the World Cup. In case of unavoidable contingencies, you will represent both of us.
Rule #4 Ignorance is NOT bliss. You will not be blamed for not participating in discussions on the WC but don’’t blame me for being ‘rood’ should you ask
a) I thought Ronaldo was bald, and Brazilian and fat
b) I hope Beckham wins the World Cup. He is so hot.
c) When does the match get over?
Rule #5 Serving snacks and drinks will be appreciated but not acknowledged.
Rule #6 No engaging friends, who have come over to watch the match, in small talk.
Rule #7 In the unlikely event of crossing the TV at any point during a match, all fours please!
Rule #8 The only ‘action’ happening will be the one on TV.
Rule #9 Avoid chatting when the favourite team is losing.
Also avoid comments like
a) They will win next time
b) Get over it
c) It’s only a game
Rule #10 Don’t pretend to love the game when facts are otherwise!
And Rule#11 Better make a note of the above
