Vikas Bahl's 'Queen' to be remade down south

Queen will be remade in all the four South-Indian languages soon

Chennai: Ever since Kangana Ranaut’s Queen became a huge hit at the box office in B’town, many filmmakers want to remake it down south. Now it’s official, as this Queen will walk down south in all four languages, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, as the remake rights have been bought by actor, producer and director Thiagarajan. Sources also say that all the leading actresses of tinsel town are desperate to reprise Kangana’s role which was received well by B’town audiences.

Thiagarajan says, “I loved the story, plot and content of Queen. It cannot be restricted to one language as it’s a universal subject that women in any country can relate to. It’s about how a woman fights against all odds in her life and remains strong despite being alone. We are yet to decide whom to cast in the lead; it will be a leading lady in Kollywood. Also, Queen was shot in Paris and Spain. So the remake will also be shot there in a big way.”

Would his son be part of the project? “Right now, Prashanth has his hands full as he is busy shooting for Sahasam in Tamil, and he is also doing a Bollywood flick. But I have ideas to rope him in for the film. Since it’s a character with grey shades, I am not sure whether things will fall into place. It’s for him to decide. I might rope in Lisa Haydon who played Kangana’s friend in the original version to play the same in the remake too, if everything goes well,” he says.
