Telugu Desam seniors rue missing Cabinet jobs

Mr Naidu has denied ministerial posts to most of the senior MLAs

Hyderabad: Denial of berths in AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s Cabinet is brewing discontent among senior TD MLAs.

Mr Naidu has denied ministerial posts to most of the senior MLAs in his first Cabinet and a few of the disgruntled MLAs have thus decided to resign.

Senior MLA from Visakhapatnam, Bandaru Satyananda Murthy, on Monday resigned from the TD state vice-president’s post in protest of being overlooked for a ministerial post.

In Guntur, MLAs Kodela Siva Prasada Rao, Dhoolipalla Narendra and Modugula Venugopal Reddy are also unhappy for not being given Cabinet berths. The followers of Mr Venugopal Reddy and Mr Narendra ransacked the Guntur district TD office on Sunday night in protest for their leaders being overlooked.

Meanwhile, in Krishna district, Pedana MLA Kagitha Venkat Rao suffered a heart attack and had to be hospitalised when he learnt that he had not got a Cabinet berth. Mr Chandrababu Naidu spoke to Mr Rao’s doctor and requested him to take measures to improve the MLA’s health.

In East Godavari, MLAs Tota Trimurthulu and Gollapalli Surya Rao were also dissatisfied at being overlooked. In Anantapur, Penukonda MLA B.K. Pardha Saradhi’s followers resigned from the party while in Krishna district, MLA Kagitha Venkat Rao’s followers held a meeting and some ZPTC and MPTC members decided to resign.
