Government promises IITs, IIMs in all states

Government will try to break the barrier between formal education and skill development

New Delhi: The President in his speech to the joint session of the Parliament on Monday unveiled an ambitious plan of establishing IITs and IIMs in all states.

Mr Mukherjee in his speech also promised to formulate a national education policy to meet the challenges posed by lack of quality, research and innovation.

In his address to the joint session of Parliament, Mr Mukherjee said that the new government will work to equip and nurture the youth with the right kind of education, skill set and opportunity to reap this demographic dividend.

“We will set up IITs and IIMs in every state. In order to empower school teachers and students, a national e-library will be established.

With the motto of ‘Har Haath Ko Hunar’, my government will strive to break the barriers between formal education and skill development, and put in place a mechanism to give academic equivalence to vocational qualifications,” he said.

“The government will set up open online courses and virtual classrooms. With the goal of ‘skilled India’, my government will also launch a national multi-skill mission,” he said.
