CM Chandrababu Naidu's 5-man army gets due reward
Hyderabad: Popularly called the five-man army in the Telugu Desam Party, they worked relentlessly, almost 24X7, during the recent general elections in AP. TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu, who took over as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, has suitably rewarded the five, who formed a key part of his ‘pyramid’. Mr Yelamanchali Satyanrayana Chowdary (Sujana Chowdary), C.M. Ramesh and Garikapati Mohan Rao are already Rajya Sabha members.
Former MP Kambhampati Rammohan Rao is now tipped for the post of Special Representative of the AP government in Delhi, which carries with a Cabinet Minister Status. His appointment will be done in due course.
Dr P. Narayana from Nellore district who runs the popular Narayana Educational Institutions was on Sunday rewarded with the Cabinet minister’s post. Dr Narayana is presently not a member of either House of legislature in Andhra Pradesh. Since there are 9 vacancies in the AP Legislative Council, including the nominated seats, Dr Narayana is most likely be accommodated in the Upper House in due course.
Dr Narayana had been entrusted with the the North-Andhra sector and he got good results for the party. He has been associating with Mr Naidu for some time. He had recommended the name of Vijaya Nirmala, who runs educational institutions, for the post of information commissioner to Mr Naidu, who in turn did not object to the appointment in the selection panel meeting held during the Kiran Kumar Reddy.
The ‘five-man army’ were Mr Naidu’s most trusted, and were given large areas of responsibility to ensure the party’s success in the residuary state of AP. Each of them had been made incharge of different sectors. All the five leaders were deeply involved in the major exercise and finally emerged victorious.
Though Mr C.M. Ramesh could not ‘bag’ majority seats in the Rayalaseema region except in Anantapur district due to the ‘Jagan Mohan Reddy effect’, he covered the ‘loss’ by engineering defections of Zilla Parishad and Mandal Parishad members and even Nandyal MP S.P.Y. Reddy into the party fold.
