V S Achuthanandan resumes revolt against Kerala unit
Kochi: After a brief lull, veteran CPM leader V.S. Achuthanandan is at it again. He launched an attack on the leadership of the state unit of the party during his speech at the central committee meeting of the CPM in Delhi on Sunday.
Sources said VS put the state leadership in the dock on issues such as the way the party had handled the T.P.Chandrasekharan murder case and the circumstances which led to the RSP leaving the LDF in the state.
The party failed in convincing the people about its stand on the TPC murder issue, he said, and added that the murder had impacted the electoral prospects of the party all over the state. The impact of the murder was not confined to Kozhikode and Vadakara alone, he said. The veteran leader also blamed the central leadership by saying it failed to grasp the stand he had taken on the issue.
VS also flayed a politburo member for meeting the TP murder accused in jail.
Blaming the state leadership for the RSP leaving the Left Democratic Front in Kerala, he said it had failed in handling the issue. VS also said the RSP’s exit had weakened the LDF’s strength in the state.
VS who had all along been engaged in a bitter battle with the state leadership of the party led by Pinarayi Vijayan for more than a decade, made a volte face when he endorsed the official stance taken by the party on the TPC issue on the eve of Lok Sabha elections.
Now, Achuthnandan has chosen to make another round of attack when the state as well as the central leadership of the party is facing flak following the severe drubbing it got in the Lok Sabha polls.
