Talks with China were productive, says Ministry of External Affairs

India also said there is a determination to “add new content and substance to the relationship.”

New Delhi: An indication of the renewed trajectory India and China hope to impart to their relations came with the two countries discussing the possibility of as many as six high-level meetings between leaders of the two countries in the coming months.

Aftere the meet, there was a sense that the two sides have resolved to impart a fresh impetus to their engagement under the new dispensation in Delhi.

It was a “productive beginning”, said MEA spokesman Syed Akb-aruddin while describing the discussions as “cordial, useful comprehensive, substantive and productive”.

After the Sunday’s meeting, India said the high-level talks were an opportunity to “understand the co-ntours of engagement between the two nati-ons and the potential that exists in the relationship”. India also said there is a determination to “add new content and substance to the relationship.”
