Food joints using bins to avoid charge in Hyderabad
Nine hotels were closed down and were allowed to re-open only after they paid fine
Hyderabad: Several small-scale food joints, instead of disposing their kitchen waste in GHMC trucks, are illegally throwing it in public waste bins to avoid monthly charges.
The already overflowing bins have turned into mini-dumping yards. Last week, GHMC food inspectors booked nine hotels in Punjagutta in this regard.
Somaraju, a GHMC circle official, said, “Kitchen waste does not count as public garbage. These establishments have to pay the civic body additional charges.
Nine hotels were closed down on Friday and were allowed to re-open only after they paid the fine.
