T Rajaiah named Telangana Deputy CM; 6,000 people came to wish him
Hyderabad: Over 6,000 people from across Telangana came in about 360 vehicles to congratulate Deputy Chief Minister Dr T. Rajaiah on Saturday as he took charge of his office. They trooped in with bouquets and queued outside in the common passage. There were women, association members, group leaders and government officers from Warangal, Khammam and Nalgonda.
The minister, however, had expected just about 200 people. As a result, police security at D-block building was limited. But, soon enough, the place got crowded and the cops had to be called in to manage the crowd.
After a while, the deputy CM was whisked away from his chamber to the conference hall where more people could be accommodated.
The felicitations and photo-sessions lasted for over three hours. By 1 in the afternoon, when the minister finally walked out of the hall, he and his team members were drenched in sweat despite the high-powered air-conditions running in full mode.
Later, Dr Rajaiah, who is also the health minister, paid a surprise visit to the Gandhi Hospital. He visited all the wards with hospital superintendent Dr Ashok Kumar and instructed that hygienic conditions be maintained. Saying that adequate amount of money has been sanctioned, Dr Rajaiah said doctors must be committed to their work.
“Doctors must be present during their assigned time in the hospital and ensure proper care is taken of the patients,” he said.
