Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana wait for helicopters
Hyderabad: Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments will purchase helicopters for Chief Ministers K. Chandrasekhar Rao and N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Neither state has a helicopter, and the CMs will have to tour districts by road or rail. Mr Rao had to recently drive to Gajwel.
Official sources in AP’s general administration department said a copter is needed urgently as Mr Naidu needs to shuttle between Hyderabad and AP districts.
Hiring helicopters would be expensive.
The two helicopters in United Andhra Pradesh were involved in accidents.
The Bell carrying Y S Rajasekhar Reddy crashed in September 2009, while the Augusta Westland was gutted in a fire mishap in Begumpet Airport in December 2012.
The insurance for these helicopters would be shared between the two states.
