Meet the world’s first mechanical smartwatch
Mumbai: Speak of hybrid and the first to hit your mind is merging of two technologies. As of now, hybrid technologies were only known in the space of automobiles and computers. However, the term seems to hit the most trending gadget, the smartwatch.
Kairos Watches has unveiled a hybrid smartwatch which consists of a regular mechanical watch with a transparent / translucent touchscreen display to make it a smartwatch.
The watch is a bit too thick as compared to conventional regular watches and smartwatches at 16.5mm thick and 22mm wide at the strap joint.
Coming back to the features and specifications, the smartwatch part can be used for notifications such as emails, incoming calls, text and more. Push alerts from your favourite apps, can also be delivered, such as Twitter, Facebook and alike. Use the watch as a remote control to click pictures from your phone, control your music or send pre-entered text messages while walking or driving. Keep up to date with your health with the built-in fitness app.
The smartwatch also incorporates a GPS along with world time display and can be tuned with English, French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Simplified Chinese, Korean and Japanese language support.
The smartwatch needs to be charged regularly. The mechanical movement can work for 42 hours while the battery life for the smartwatch part lasts you 5 – 7 days.
Kairos Watches are available in two different models: MSW 115 and SSW 158. The biggest difference is that the MSW 115 model is equipped with a Miyota Japanese Movement while the SSW 158 is equipped with a certified SWISS Movement from SOPROD, a highly reputable SWISS movement manufacturer.
Coming back to functionality, the display is around 40 – 60 per cent transparent (depends on the model you choose) so that the mechanical watch can still be seen beneath it.
The price range for the models starts at $499 and move upwards to $1199. The smartwatches are available on pre-order for now and shipping starts by end of the year.
