Don’t touch my feet, Narendra Modi to MPs

MPs touching his feet makes Mr Modi uncomfortable. says the sources

New Delhi: After his move to instil a “work culture” in bureaucrats and ministers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is now trying to end sycophancy in the party. At a meeting of the BJP Parliamentary Party on Friday he made it clear to saffron MPs that they should not touch his feet.

He also stressed that MPs must always be well prepared before speaking in the House and must have the “right perspective” on issues so as not to strike a discordant note or one that is not in line with the party’s views.

According to sources Mr Modi, reiterated more than five to six times that he does not like anyone touching his feet as it makes him uncomfortable.

The Prime Minister, who himself is a first-time MP, told his party Parliamentarians, especially the newly elected ones, that they need to be attentive in the House and should maintain a good attendance record.

Mr Modi also cautioned party MPs that they should refrain from complacency and remain connected with the people.
