Centre to boost broadcasting in Northeast region
New Delhi: The Centre is preparing to strengthen its broadcasting abilities in vulnerable and extremist infested states of the Northeast region of the country.
Union information and broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar is understood to have asked his officials to prepare a detailed roadmap to strengthen and enhance the broadcasting abilities of Doordarshan and All India Radio in these states sharing border with several neighbouring countries.
The step by the I&B ministry is expected to go a long way in stemming the anti-India propaganda from across the border.
Mr Javadekar asked the I&B ministry officials to find ways to promote the Northeast region as a filming destination and featuring films from these region in the various film festivals.
The I&B minister also met a delegation from the region and held wide-ranging discussion on issues related to area.
