Windows 8.1 tablet for just Rs 6,000
Mumbai: The Computex 2014 at Taiwan witnessed Microsoft releasing their cheapest tablet, which costs just $100 (approx Rs 6,000). The tablet is from Emdoor, a Mainland China manufacturer.
Mobile Geeks reported that Microsoft had unveiled the $100 tablet at the Computex 2014 by releasing the Emdoor EM-i8080.
The tablet features an 8-inch IPS display panel with a resolution of 1280x800. It is powered using Intel’s 1.33GHz – 1.8GHz Bay Trail SoC in the form of the Intel Atom Z3735G, backed by 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal SSD storage, which can be further extended using a micro SD card. Connectivity options include micro USB, mini HDMI, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. There are inbuilt stereo speakers and the entire tablet is powered using an 18.5Wh battery. A hands-on done by mobile Geeks states that the tablet feels reasonably good and weighs 355g.
Mobile Geeks also stated that Intel and Microsoft are making huge efforts to penetrate the really affordable tablet market with their respective processor and OS offerings; the Emdoor EN-i8080 is great example of what the two companies have in mind.
